Train Services Disrupted After Person Hit by Train Near Milbech
Rail traffic on the Luxembourg-Wasserbillig-Trier line faced significant disruption on
Monday morning following a serious incident near Milbech.
According to a statement from the national railway company CFL, emergency services
were deployed to the scene after a person was struck by a train at approximately 6:50
a.m. The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) later confirmed the collision and
reported that the train conductor was also injured in the incident.
In response, two ambulances, an emergency doctor, and three fire engines were
dispatched. Both the individual hit by the train and the conductor were transported to
hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not yet been disclosed.
As a result of the emergency intervention, train services along the affected route were
halted for nearly two hours. CFL arranged replacement bus services to cover the
Luxembourg, Cents, and Sandweiler-Contern stops while regular rail operations
continued beyond Oetrange towards Wasserbillig.
At around 8:30 a.m., CFL announced that services on the line had “gradually” resumed.
However, the company warned that passengers should anticipate potential delays and
cancellations throughout the day.
CFL has advised all travelers to consult its website or mobile app for up-to-date travel
information before setting out.
