International Burglary Gang Busted in Cross-Border Police Operation

Luxembourg police, in collaboration with French and German counterparts, have
dismantled a transnational burglary network suspected of carrying out nearly 50 home
invasions across the country since early 2023. Five suspects have been arrested in a
major two-day crackdown this week.

Authorities believe the organised group is behind a series of at least 48 break-ins that
occurred between January 2023 and December 2024, with estimated damages and
stolen goods amounting to some €700,000.

The coordinated operation unfolded on Tuesday and Wednesday. Four suspects were
detained in north-east France under European arrest warrants issued by Luxembourg.
A fifth individual was taken into custody on Luxembourgish soil on Wednesday and is
set to appear before an examining magistrate on Thursday morning.

The wide-ranging investigation is being spearheaded by Luxembourg’s judiciary and
has drawn support from law enforcement bodies across borders. Participating units
included the Criminal Police, the Organized Crime Division (RGB), customs officials,
and specialist canine teams. Police also conducted simultaneous searches of multiple
properties in different countries as part of the operation.

Authorities have not disclosed further details about the suspects or the locations
targeted in the raids, citing the ongoing nature of the probe. However, the public
prosecutor’s office stressed that all individuals arrested are presumed innocent pending
the outcome of judicial proceedings.
