Luxembourg Confirms 2026 Eurovision Participation
Luxembourg will once again take part in the Eurovision Song Contest, with national
broadcaster RTL confirming the country’s participation in the 2026 edition, set to be held
in Austria.
RTL has been responsible for coordinating Luxembourg’s Eurovision efforts since the
country returned to the contest in 2024, ending a 31-year absence. Both in 2024 and
2025, Luxembourg successfully advanced from the semi-finals to the grand final,
viewed by an international audience of over 160 million.
In 2024, artist Tali finished 13th out of 25 finalists with the song Fighter. The 2025 entry,
La Poupée monte le Son by Laura Thorn, paid tribute to France Gall’s iconic 1965
winning song Poupée de Cire, poupée de Son. Despite praise from journalists and
Eurovision fans online, Thorn placed 22nd out of 26 finalists during the May contest in
Basel.
Austria’s JJ won the 2025 contest with Wasted Love. While the specific host city for the
2026 finals has yet to be announced, Vienna is a likely candidate, having previously
hosted the event in 1967 and 2015.
RTL also confirmed that the Luxembourg Song Contest, which will determine the
country’s next Eurovision representative, is set to return to the Rockhal venue, most
likely in January.
